After a lot of back and forth , considerations and good spirited negotiations the Marlins and Rangers have agreed on the following:
Rangers Trade:
LF Starling Marte $300k (2017)
Marlins Trade:
LF Michael Conforto $300K (2020)
P Kolby Allard minors
DD Pick (Marlins) #15 2016
RF Isael Soto minors
3B James Nelson minors
This is deal I really really hate to do, it kills me to give up Marte, but I currently have four resigns and have Marte and Daniel Murphy expiring in 2017. So it is all about the resigns. Marlins made recent moves to open up a resign and with trade will have an all star outfield, I would not be doing this if we were in the same division. On most sites Marte is listed as a top ten dynasty outfielder. Obviously his value is lowered in this league due to his contract and the need to have a resign slot.
Anyway, I get Conforto who may not play much this year the way Mets outfield is lining up, but hopefully will be a mainstay in the future. Allard is still young, a couple of years away, but is well rated. The DD pick, Soto and Nelson all have some upside but a lot of risk.
I kick myself a bit because basically I rented Marte last year for Mazzara and O Herrera, oh well, lesson learned, probably shouldn't have resigned Mitch Moreland. Good luck to the Marlins and his dream outfield. Thanks for the fun talks.
