Ok, I'll be honest. I really have no idea how to value Britton right now. He was an All Star closer and just 29 when I signed him. He started off last year alright and then missed about half the season. Struggled when he got back but had things going right again until another ding. Then another significant injury this offseason that will leave him out until the All Star break. He could come back and be a great closer for the last two years of his contract. OR he could never fully recover and begin his downward spiral to middle relief.
I had two teams make offers and both were for a couple of prospects. Yankees offer includes Kyle Zimmer, who was a number 1 prospect for KC before some injuries. He's now 26, but if he can get back he could have a quick road to the majors. Whitlock was a late round pick that had some success last year.
TB accepts. It's really about moving the Britton contract. I get that I'm selling low. But I feel that my bullpen depth allows me to take the risk.
