Halos accept. It took a big deal to pull Abreu and Tolleson away. I like the close to the MLB talent I'm getting back. With AJ Reed and Nottingham on my squad I can replace Abreu late 2016 and beyond.

Rays accept. My team was getting killed at the corners. Jose Abreu will be a BIG addition to my squad. Adding Tolleson gives me a Closer until Boxberger returns and then I will have 2 which will help my bullpen.
Cowart is close to MLB ready at 3B and is a solid hitter. Also a big Patrick Sandoval fan and he's just 19. With all of my young pitchers on staff, I can afford to wait for Sandoval who I think has great stuff.

Lubach/Cowart/Sandoval for Brashears/Mujica/pick seems fair enough as they're all relatively uninteresting prospects of low value. So that leaves Abreu and Tolleson for Pineda, Nottingham and Fulmer. I do feel Jose Abreu is expensive at $17M, but I am paying Carlos Santana $18M, so it's fair enough. Tolleson is a nice piece as a 300k closer. While I'm skeptical of Rays' strategy of trading all his higher ranked prospects and bank on lottery tickets, I don't see anything wrong valuewise and i would argue that Rays is getting the better value in this deal. I guess if you're going for it, may as well put all your chips in

I think Padres analysis is pretty close to mine. At the time, Abrue for $17MM was significant. After FA this year, it is not a bad contract.
