1st attempt: $7,750,000(2020)
2nd attempt: $8,250,000(2020)
Heyward at $8,250,000 is an overpay IMO. He's 26 though, had a .798 OPS and has stole 20+ bases the past 2 seasons.
Upton is 2 year older and had a .790 OPS & had 19 sbs last year.
Heyward and Upton split our leagues categories 3-3 last season.
D-Backs will match Heywards inflated resign #
5 years @ $8.25M

I thought the previous contract was on the border. I feel this pushes it far enough ahead

Veto #1 from me.
I still think he's worth $9M+ for all the reasons stated before. To add to my reasoning...Heyward is close, but a lesser comparable than other OF's. Upton is more in line with the $10-12M OF re-signs with good HR+SB combinations than Heyward. Upton has 2-3x Heyward's HR output in most years. They are both around 20 SB players more often than not. Upton has more RBI in most years, and significantly more a number of times. Over the course of their careers so far Upton has higher AVG and OPS. We can pick and choose stats from specific years, but Upton's upside is proven to be higher so far. And even at two years older he's only 28 and has at least 2-4 years left in his prime. With an ideal team setup in DET. $9 is bare minimum IMO and that's a discount for re-signing. If he hits FA, I think there are a number owners willing to go $10M+ for a 35-50 SB+HR OF in his prime.
Edited for typos.
