Seattle would like to give Yasiel Puig a pay raise from $5,000,000 to $7,00,000 (2020)(2016 NT) contract
so comparing his numbers to some other players that have been resigned or are in the process of being resigned
Carlos Gomez Batting Average OPS Runs RBI HR STL
2013 284 843 80 73 27 40 Gomez beat Puig in 4 of 6 categories
2014 284 833 95 95 34 34 Gomez beat Puig in 4 of 6 categories
2015 255 724 61 61 29 17 Gomez beat Puig in 4 of 5 categories with 1 tie
Adam Jones Batting Average OPS Runs RBI HR STL
2013 285 811 100 108 33 14 Jones beat Puig in 4 of 6 categories
2014 281 780 88 96 29 7 Puig beat Jones in 4 of 6 categories
2015 269 782 74 82 27 3 Jones beat Puig in 5 of 6 categories
Yasiel Puig Batting Average OPS Runs RBI HR STL
2013 319 925 66 42 19 11
2014 296 863 92 69 16 11
2015 255 758 30 38 11 3
So over a 3 year period Carlos Gomez won 12 of 17 categories vs Puig with 1 tie - so Gomez won 70% more
So over a 3 year period Adam Jones won 10 of 18 Categories vs Puig - so Gomez won 56% more
----Just read post on Justin Upton over a 3 year period Upton won 10 of 18 vs Puig so Upton won 56% more
So with all that said where I would have thought Puig was more valuable than the other 3 OF's he really wasn't. Only 1 in 3 years was he more valuable than Jones and Upton (he did tie Upton 1 year, but the other year Upton won 5/6 categories)- and in one of the discussions on Upton they said they were looking for 9 - 10 million range - so I feel giving Puig $7,000,000 is a good pay raise who so far has been less valuable than the other OFs listed based on 3 year data of scoring categories - so if he is more valuable 1 in 3 years that makes him 67% as valuable as the others so assuming 10,000,000 is salary for other OF, then Puigs would be $6,700,000 but i thought $7,000,000 would be a good number with Puigs age - Last point on Puig reports have him as not being a good locker room guy so there is negative press around him and how he fits in - But i have hope in him
