Hello All,
We decided to create a new board here for anyone to post any question/comments they may have. We had one in the "General" section but think here it will be more easily viewable and assessable.
We will have free agency coming up sometime soon and wanted to poit out this year's free agent class is a little weak. There are some very good players on it but not a lot of them. We do urge every team to study their own systems for players. This can also be done by searching through your team's past transactions and draft history here. Its amazing sometimes how good of a player you might find doing so.
Hopefully everyone is signed up at our Fantrax site. If anyone doesn't have access, just let any of the TAB members know. At Fantrax we can see that there are many good players not showing on teams yet. Its possible one could be yours. A couple of examples of this are:
LF Aaron Altherr
Alther was Drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 9th round of the 2009 amateur draft. He is still currently on the Phillies. As my team has never traded him here, I own him and can promote him.
A second example is (and this one would be easier to miss) would be RP Hunter Strickland currently with the real-life Giants. Strickland though was originally drafted by the real-life Red Sox in 2007. Here though he is currently owned by the Pirates. The reason for that is because our league here started in 2011. On October 5th, 2011 of that year, every team here roster was "frozen" and you would own whoever was in your team's system at that time. On Strickland, his real life transactions are:
June 7, 2007: Drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 18th round of the 2007 amateur draft. Player signed June 12, 2007.
July 22, 2009: Traded by the Boston Red Sox with Argenis Diaz to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Adam LaRoche.
Roster Freeze Date/Deadline: October 5th, 2011
April 2, 2013: Selected off waivers by the San Francisco Giants from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
As you can see, on 10/5/11, Strickland was Pirate's property. The last step in the confirmation process would be to see if Strickland was ever traded here. A search of the name "Strickland" returned zero results. So, Pirates have themselves a player here who would have a $300,000 (2020 - Strickland's case) contract when promoted. Much cheaper than going the free agency route.
Anyway, the Questions/Comments board is open. Feel free to use it!!!
