Hard to know what you're going to get out of someone as much as what you know you're going to get out of Gallardo. Every year since 2009, he has thrown at least 180 innings, keeping his ERA within a 0.76 range throughout that time period. For that reason alone, I find him to be pretty valuable. Gallardo is going into his age-30 season, which is getting up there, but certainly not too old.
One similar player I find to Gallardo is Gio Gonzalez, signed before his age-29, who has been mostly healthy (though he was coming off a season where he missed ~5 starts) with fairly similar stats to Gallardo. He was signed for 4 years @ $7,500,000, with TAB stating that the salary was on the absolute low end of acceptance. Since Gallardo is a good amount away from that, I will veto. I would like an extra year and and an extra $1-2 million added to Gallardo before I approve

Veto 0-3
Agree with Padres and Yankees here. The Gio Gonzalez comp is a good one also. Using each one's last 3 years:
era whip w k gallardo age-29 4.18 1.362 12 144 3.51 1.295 8 146 3.42 1.416 13 121
gio age-29 3.36 1.252 11 192 3.57 1.197 10 162 3.79 1.423 11 169
Fairly similar numbers there (edge to Gio somewhat) except for Gallardo falling K's. I'd be ok with slotting him in just under Gonzalez at this time.
BTW, 2 more chances on this one!!!
