Halos send: SP JA Happ (2018) TOR $500,000 SP Mike Clevinger (CLE) 14.1 innings, not called up yet
Pirates send: SP Zach Wheeler (2018) NYM $300,000
Halos accept
Rolling the dice on Wheelers recovery and coming into his potential. Losing Clevinger hurts as I think very highly of him and his breakout last season and AAA numbers this season.

Accept. I am high on Wheeler, but his recovery hit a bumb, so getting an arm like Happ to help me, is something I could really use to make a run. Clevinger is having a really nice year in AAA, hopefully he can keep that up going into the Majors.

Looking at their stats, there is not much difference between J.A. Happ and Zack Wheeler. However, there is a difference in that Happ is actually healthy whereas Wheeler isn't. Regardless, I would say Wheeler is better than Happ simply based on his higher ceiling. However, the inclusion of Mike Clevinger, who can easily perform at a level similar or better than what Happ is producing doesn't make sense to me of why he's included. While Wheeler has some potential, he has never performed at an outstanding level in the Major League level, and his recovery isn't going great, so it's hard to say how he will return. Because it is entirely possible that Wheeler is the worst pitcher in this deal, I am going to veto

Not sure why Clevinger is included. Going to need to think a little on this before I vote. Would think the side getting Wheeler might get a little extra since he will miss most if not all of 2016 leaving him with only 2 yrs where the Happ return gets all 3 yrs of Happ plus a spec doesn't make much sense on surface but want to think it over before I cast a vote.

Happ is 33 and is in the AL East, Wheeler was a top young arm before the injury. Chances are Happ falls off a little every year, as Wheeler could and now likely will get better, being only 26. This trade might not be the greatest to you two. But you have two owners that came upon an agreement, in which this trade doesn't hurt the league, or even has a chance to hurt the league in any way.

Would I do this trade? Probably not. I think the team getting the injured guy maybe should get another player with him.
With that said it was not too long ago that Zach Wheeler was a highly regarded prospect pre-tommy john. Wheeler is a guy who even if he hardly pitches this year should be in Mets rotation for next 2-yrs then who knows maybe worth a re-sign tag if he meets expectation.
