White Sox Trade: Jose Berrios (MIN - SP).....$300,000 (2021) Hunter Harvey, RHP (BAL) -prospect Tyler Nevin, 3B (COL) -prospect Fernando Tatis Jr., SS (SD) -prospect
Mariners Trade: SP Sonny Gray 300,000 (2018) Stephen Vogt $300,000(2018) #10 DD Pick, 2016, SEA via TB #26 DD Pick, 2016, SEA 3B Wladimir Galindo (Cubs) -prospect
White Sox accept. I like Berrios long term, but I need some pitching now to fill a spot in my rotation and I'm not sure Berrios is quite ready. Hopefully Gray stays healthy and will give me very solid rotation in the short term. Vogt will also give me a decent catcher, he's not really great in anything, but considering my other options are Castro and Gomes he's an improvement and should give me a solid contending lineup. I also had to trade two of my favorite specs in Nevin and Harvey, both are a ways off, but should be really good options once they're ready. Along with a swap of prospects and DD picks to make everyone happy.
I see the trade as Berrios for Gray, proven track record in Gray offset by injury concerns and 3 more years of Berrios. Vogt for Nevin+Harvey. And DD picks, Galindo, and Tatis as minor pieces fill in any difference in opinions on player values.

Mariners accept -
Last year a lot of things fell in place for me to be a playoff team- bullpen pitched out of their minds, David Ortiz career year, and getting Napoli in Free Agency and him having a comeback season. I feel this team will need some of the same magic to make a play off run - So moving some pieces to get younger/prospects that I like their upsides - I am a big fan of Berrios we will see how he does this year. I hate to give up Gray but with my resigns without trading one I would not be able to resign Gray after next year and I think Berios is the long term answer. Harvey coming off TJ surgery will be out most if not all of this year but still I feel he is worth rolling the dice on, and Nevin is a 1st round pick who is still young that hasn't yet turned into what was expected - but there is still time. I had 1 player i was looking at with my DD picks and Vogt was going to be back up C on my roster this year since he is no longer 1st eligible, and I only wanted to carry 1 catcher on my roster. So I think the gamble on Harvey/Nevin is worth it. Tatis and Galindo are minor league swaps.
