Rangers and Red Sox have agreed on the following:
Rangers send SP Jerad Eickhoff - $300,000 (2020) SP Tyler Skaggs $300,000 (2018)
in exchange
Red Sox send SP Anderson Espinoza minors 2017 2nd round draft pick
I am giving up two solid, cheap SPs with rotation spots. I like them both but neither is spectacular in my mind, what I get in exchange, hopefully is a future ace in Espinoza. A lot can happen with young pitchers, so there is some risk here. The second round pick helps even it out for me. Major league SPs were an area of depth for me, so an ongoing effort to stay competitive now and get younger for the future. thanks Pete

Seems a little light for two MLB arms. Espinoza could be great, hopefully he is. But if Espinoza doesn't hit his ceiling, he might be exactly what Eickhoff is right now. A solid SP3 at least. But given the SP depth on Rangers I think the gamble is ok. The luster has worn off on Skaggs so it's basically Espinosa+pick for Eickhoff which seems about right, and if Skaggs had to be thrown in to make it work I'm ok with that.
