Conor Gillaspie (SF) 3B No contract yet not called up

Braves Send:

Darwin Barney (TOR) 2B/3B/SS $500,000 (2017)
Shawn Tolleson (TEX) RP $300,000 (2019)

Was a bit surprised to get any interest on Gillaspie but it does look like he's getting playing time this year once he's healthy. I am stacked at injured 3B so hadn't bothered to call him up. Barney gives me a body to fill SS this year. There's gamble in Tolleson's game. With his implosion last year, and now TJ, He's likely done, but he has had experience in the back end of the bullpen before so maybe one day he can provide some value again.

Figured losing Tolleson was worth a gamble of Gillaspie getting time at 3B this year and possibly next. Braves accept.

While Braves acknowledges the risk associated with trading Tolleson, there is also plenty of risk just with acquiring Gillaspie and his 8 (!) WRC+ plus. It does fit a need for the Braves, which makes it more reasonable. As another benefit, Braves does get to clear $800,000 in salary, so that should also help mitigate the risk associated with trading Tolleson, and to a lesser extent, Barney
