SP Yu Darvish $12,500,000 (2017) RESIGN
Padres 2nd round pick in 2018 FYPD
Padres 3rd round pick in 2018 FYPD
Rays trade:
OF Kyle Lewis
RHP Hunter Wood
Padres accept. While it does hurt to give up part of my trifecta in starting pitching, I also feel pretty comfortable in my other starters where I was willing to trade Darvish away. It makes it a lot easier considering how much I like the package I am receiving. I believe Lewis can be an elite outfielder who can contribute in multiple categories once he rebounds from injury and Wood reminds me of another pitcher on my team in Matt Andriese. I also appreciate that Lewis comes full circle back to my team after Rays selected him with the pick I originally traded to him
