Mariners Send:
C Jason Castro $1,000,000 (2019)
Giants Send:
OF Ronnie Jebavy
Jason Castro - acquired in trade from CWS 5/3/17 Ronnie Jebavy - 5th Round draft pick by Giants in 2015
Really should have been a part of the other trade, but was an oversight, Mariners was going to waive Castro and I need a warm body until my other C's develop.
Jebavy is a big ball of swing and miss and no patience at the plate. He's old for the level and has Babip inflated production now, he doesn't have a lot of power but he does put the bat on the ball. His best asset is his defense which doesn't mean much other then he at least has utility OF value down the line.
Giants Accept

Mariners accept - I still have Vogt and Sucre as catchers besides Contreas in the trade I just made - so moving a contract and getting a prospect back in return is a plus -

Jason Castro has only had one season where he has ever really been offensively valuable. Even so, having a body to fill in at catcher, especially at a cheap contract, provides some value, though probably not more than C value. That's exactly what Jebavy is as his WRC+ ranges around where Castro's is, but at A+ instead of the majors. Ultimately, you do hope that one of these guys finds another gear to their game, but the likelihood of that happening is pretty low, making this trade pretty insignificant
