Giants and Rangers have come to the following agreement:
Rangers send Mitch Moreland $5,250,000 (2020) resign
Rangers 2017 2nd round pick (#23)
Rangers 2017 3rd round pick (via Padres #27)
Giants send: Tim Lincecum $10,000,000 (2017)(Resign)
Mark Reynolds (COL) - $500,000 (2018)
For the Rangers this deal is really about moving the resign of Mitch Moreland off my record and opening a slot for Daniel Murphy. For the salary Moreland isn't a bad deal, just comes down to the resign slot. I acquired some extra draft picks so I am using this to do so. Lincecum frees up a resign spot for this year for the Giants . Reynolds was a bargain signing in the offseason that worked out well and gives me a 1B for the remainder of this year and hopefully next.
Thanks Pete - Rangers

Giants accept.
I don't forsee needing a resign slot until 2020 anyway, so the chance to flip this asset for some picks makes sense.

Moreland has been unimpressive for this year and his upside is probably best stated as limited. In all honesty, it's probably more beneficial for Rangers to trade him away so he can resign Murphy and at best, he has neutral value. As for the draft picks, the 2nd rounder seems to have B-/C+ and the 3rd rounder has C+ value. On the other hand, Lincecum is a pure salary dump to make salary work. He's obviously not useful, but at least you don't have to deal with him for too long where I guess he only has the negative value of a C. On the other hand, Mark Reynolds has shown himself to be quite useful. He still has his issues, but with how he's producing at Coors, he probably carries B- value. I guess you can mostly cancel out Moreland and Lincecum, and if Moreland fits into Giants long-term plans, than that exchange looks good for him, but I'm not sure how good Moreland will be in 3 years where he may wind up being deadweight. At the same time, it does appear the picks offer sufficient, if not better, value for Reynolds where it still looks like a solid move, even if Moreland is neutral value or even negative value. It looks like both sides get what they want, so this trade is approved
Approved 3-0

thanks, can someone also update draft picks so there is no confusion Done. Draft picks 2.23 & 3.27 moved from Rangers to the Giants. Lincecum & Moreland also swapped out in the master re-sign thread.
