Giants Top Prospects
Adalberto Mejia, LHP (SF)
Kendry Flores, P (MIA)
Lucius Fox, SS (SF)
Chris Heston, SP (SF)
Kelby Tomlinson, 2B (SF)
Sam Coonrod, RHP (SF)
Mac Williamson, OF (SF)
Adam Duvall, OF (CIN)
Mike Kickham (SF-LHP) Grade B-: I've liked him since he was in college, nice power lefty arm. Command still needs some work, but I trust the Giants to develop him more than most teams.
Dante Bichette Jr (NYY-3B) Grade C+: Borderline C. You could slot toolsy-but-impatient outfielders Zoilo Almonte or Melky Mesa here and both will be ready far sooner than Bichette. Both also have significant problems with plate discipline which will likely prevent them from reaching their potential, though they could be useful as reserves. Bichette, meanwhile, is a sound defender at third base who didn't hit nearly as well as expected in Low-A. He will get more chances to live up to his bloodline.
Francisco Peguero (SF-OF) Grade C+: Tools are obvious, as are his very serious flaws. Even a marginal improvement in his plate discipline would take him a long way. Giants have to hope that he's a late bloomer with his skills. High risk property.
Josh Osich (SF-LHP) Grade C+: Another guy who would slot nicely as a power bullpen arm, if he can manage to avoid the doctors.
Ehire Adrianza (SF-SS) Grade C+: Strong defensive shortstop from Venezuela. Hit .300 in the California League but scouts continue to question his hitting. At age 22 he has time to improve. Utility guy at worst.
Seth Rosin (SF-RHP) Grade C+: University of Minnesota product looked great in the Arizona Fall League following decent campaign as Low-A swingman. Big breakout is possible in 2012.
Jarrett Parker (SF-OF) Grade C+: Good athlete, shows power, speed, draws walks, fine glove. Main problem is strikeouts: he struggles with contact and batting average/OBP will suffer at higher levels without adjustments in his approach. Fourth outfielder profile right now.
Ricky Oropesa (SF-1B) Grade C+: Has pop, but high strikeout rate and difficult position premium push him back.
Joan "Not a Typo" Gregorio (SF-RHP) Grade C: Ultra-projectable, posted 2.32 ERA in rookie ball although peripherals were less impressive. Potential to rank much higher next year once he gets more innings in. Tall and lean at 6-7, 180.
Jesus Galindo (SF-OF) Grade C: Switch-hitter stole 47 bases in Northwest League. Lacks power, needs to improve on-base skills to stick as a leadoff hitter.
Chris Marlowe (SF-RHP) Grade C: Oklahoma State right-hander has above-average fastball, nasty curve, and incredible K/IP ratios in college. Could move quickly in relief if his command is sufficient.
Conor Gillaspie (SF-3B) Grade C: Forgotten man, but I think he can still surprise us. Gradually showing more power, makes contact, draws some walks, and has improved his defense. Doesn't have the power ceiling of Chris Dominguez (also a Grade C prospect) but is a steadier hitter with a higher floor.
