Rationale:
I personally don't see this team competing this year with a complete lack of pitching. This deal allows me to get some solid prospects back in Griffin and Allen, they are a little older but should hopefully be a little closer to the Majors. I also get Diaz who while lacking true playing time will also be my only 3B on an active roster (since Barney just got cut). This along with a second round pick were enough value for me to give up two very productive veterans. I also have to give up my 3rd Round pick to get this done which I don't like as a rebuilding team but the Indians needed it as insurance or this deal wasn't going to get done.
As a side note I appreciated negotiating with the Indians, they were always cordial and open to discussing any type of deal regardless of times when we disagreed. Thanks for being a great trade partner! Good luck this year.
