White Sox/Angels Trade (Approved 3-0)

Gallo has been stellar for me this year. But his hamate surgery comes at a time when I can’t afford the lost production. Hamate is also notorious for long healing. Especially for power. I’m sure Gallo will play next year. But he won’t be JOEY GALLO again until 2021 and that’s too late for my window. I expect a Matt Olson recovery cycle. Big drop in ISO for one year. Then full power the next. But “the next” is too late for me.

I had contact with a dozen teams the last 24 hours. Received a bunch of interesting offers. But this one fit my needs the best. I love Lamet. His slider is insane and he looks back to full strength. Unlike some of the other pitchers I was offered he’s on a team in a pitchers park, in a weak division, that’s on the rise. If he was an Oriole or Red I wouldn’t do this deal. But I love both the skills and the role here. Abreu is likely a future RP despite his four pitch repertoire. But he might be great in that role. Lorenzen is on a bad enough team that he’s getting counting stats and that’s key in a playoff push.

Long and winding road but we got there in the end. Thanks Angels. I look forward to competing against you in 2029 when your reign of terror in the AL is winding down and my inevitable rebuild after this two year push is done.
