RP Brent Suter (Brewers) $300,000 (2022)
Perhaps a risky trade on my part. Suter was lights out as a reliever in his return from Tommy John last fall. There’s been talk that the Brewers might stretch him back out as a rotation option this season. But I’m hoping he stays in the bullpen as a 7th or 8th inning option. His unusual quick pitch style has made him a weapon the first time through the order his entire career. Career BAA of .230 and WHIP of 1.09 first time through as SP. It takes hitters time to adjust to his style, and that really played up as a reliever last fall (.204 and 0.92). His fastball speed is terrible. So he has to rely on guile and cadence. But the dude went to Harvard. I’m betting he’s smart enough to let his guile take the lead.
