Angels trade: SP - Alex Wood - (2018) - $300,000 1B - Jon Singleton - (2019) - $300,000
White Sox trade: Tyler Beede, SP (SF Prospect - taken in this year FYPD 1.16) CHW 2014 2nd rd FYPD pick (2.16) CHW 2014 Dispersal pick CIN 2014 Dispersal pick (acquired in Locke-Rienzo trade) CHW 2015 3rd rd FYPD pick
We're going to try this again. CHW add in another FYPD pick to try and make this work. I need pitching help now, and am willing to risk it on Singleton for his upside. The reason I was hesitant to add this much in the first place is because of some of the question marks surrounding these two guys. There's plenty of talent/potential but if any of Singleton's hitting issues or addiction/mental health issues persist, or Wood ends up in RP more permanently down the road, then this is going to look pretty lopsided in Angels favor later. But hopefully another pick is enough to tip the scales the other way and we'll see how it plays out. Thanks for the quick re-negotiation, Angels to confirm when he can.

Explanation take 2: I believe this is a sell high for Wood. My take on him is that he is a deception based LHP with a quirky delivery that carries significant risk for injury and/or a role change to the bullpen. I do recognize that he is performing well right now, but I don't believe it will continue. As for Singleton, I believe he will be good, not great. The risks that Jon listed above are mine too. I also believe that 1b is an easy postion to back fill if needed. With Jose Abreu being locked up for 4 years and several young OF to fill my UTIL spot moving forward, I feel he is expendable.
As for the players I'm receiving. I believe in my ability to draft and get talent back in the picks given. I believe Tyler Beede will follow in the other 1st round Vandy draft picks footsteps and move quickly to MLB and perform like David Price and Sonny Gray. Pitching in SF and the NL is also a big plus.
I understand the decline reasoning, but I don't value the players in the same fashion. And I do not intend or think any team should be built around Wood.
Halos accept.

I like Angels side more in this one than the last attempt with an additional FYDP, but I approved the last one so I approve this one as well.
Approved 1-0

I'm still not so sure that a 3rd round pick NEXT YEAR is the difference for me. Singleton is a top 3 1B prospect in all of baseball, some would even argue that he's #1 on that list, and with the influx of youth and talent that Houston is accumulating, he's gonna be very productive driving in a lot of runs. I expect his average to come up and the power is definitely there.
I don't understand why Anaheim is so set on trading him, and honestly I'd like to see him still get a little more. I'd prefer to see quality over quantity for 2 young players like this
1-1

Adding a 3rd Rd FYPD isn't enough to change my vote. Alex Wood is a front-line SP type already in the majors signed for cheap and long-term. Jon Singleton is potential stud bat. I don't get why Angels is dumping these two for 5 complete unknowns in 3 FYPD and 2 Crapshoot DD's. Want to convince me to approve that 2015 pick needs to be higher than a 3rd Round.
DENIED #2 (1-2)

This value isn't even close.
Alex Wood looks to be a solid three signed through 2018 and as much as I don't like Singelton he has good value for potential. The DD are worth very little and a 2/3 FYPD to go with Beede.
Veto 1-3
