Why not just trade him for whatever you can get?

To clarify, you can not waive prospects (players with no contracts) they do no harm in your minors if you don't like a guy then just list him and be done with him.
I know Red Sox is a very active trader and can probably push Josh Sale off on some team for some "novelty" or something else. Maybe Sale is the next Josh Hamilton a problem child in TB who gets his life right with a fresh start.
