Giants Send: LF Adam Duvall 300,000 (2020) RP Josh Osich 300,000 (2020) RP Derek Law 300,000 (20XX) 3B Austin Riley (ATL)
Seattle Send: 2016 FYPD 1st Rd Pick (1.7) OF Christin Stewart (DET)
Giants accept
Got a lot of interest in in Duvall, but had specific requirements in order for me to let him go.
I get back in the top 10 of the draft, stockpiling assets in a deep class. On top of that I get another solid prospect in Stewart, who appears to be in a breakout, and is on track to have a similar ceiling to Duvall and Riley.
Relievers and pitching are still positions of depth even after this move.
Thanks to SEA as always.

Seattle accepts - I am getting more pitching depth that is young - and with injuries i was in need of an OF and Duvall is having a good year - I hate giving up prospects or picks but I feel this is a move i need to make - also getting Riley helps offset giving up the pick -

Veto, it seems as if SF is giving 1 to many pitchers or Seattle needs to add 1 more player to be a fair trade. I will Approve if the trade is modified.

It does seem like the Giants are giving up a lot here I want to review it further before I vote.

my thoughts on the value of trade
First round draft pick in the top 10 - worth more than Duval Christian Stewart has 16 homers in 64 minor league games this year - so he is more major league ready than Riley and putting up bigger power numbers - so I think Stewart is again better than Riley at this point so we included 2 RP in the deal who both pitch for the same team - so only 1 will be closer if they even make it that level to even out the deal - I know RP everyone has different values on - but in my opinion yes a 4 for 2 trade looks bad, but if you break it down - first round pick and Stewart I think are both more valuable than the pieces being returned for them - so I felt 2 RP from same team evened out the trade -
But y'all can decide and we will go from there

I pulled this from past trades since this is my 1st year in this league - this was last year and it was approved so a 2nd and 3rd round pick were worth those players - I will gladly trade any of the pieces i am receiving for Kang right now - Just putting this out there to try and establish a value for a #7 pick
Reds trade: 2015 2nd Round FYPD pick 2015 3rd Round FYPD pick
Red Sox trade: C Russel Martin $5,000,000 (2015) SS Jung-Ho Kang $5,000,000 (2018)

I am not a big fan of veteoing esp with GMs who I think know what they are doing HOWEVER I do believe there is too much going from SF to SEA and not enough from SEA to SF so I am going to agree with Jerry here take out 1 of the RPs or add another piece to the other side to balance it out and I would be willing to change my vote.
VETO #2 (0-2)

Would Kang be worth more than a 2nd Rd pick now? Absolutely. But at the time no one had any idea what Kang would do in MLB.

that trade was July 15 - half way through Kangs first season and you had an idea of the player he could be and he was a SS so not as many power threat guys there so more valuable position this is Duvalls first true season and we are almost half way - and I am giving up a #7 overall pick for him that is why i made the comparison to that trade same point in season and close to same point in careers
but hey it is what it is - guess we will restructure

Guess I'm one of those guys who don't value RP that much, especially ones that aren't likely to become closers. I appreciate the looking out. I was the one pushing the trade, and assigning the initial value, looks like we were close at least.
I'm in a position where I don't have to look too much at current value, I was holding out for a 1st rounder and a high end spec for Duvall, and I do still think I'm getting the best value due to the depth of my pitching and just how I value pitching in general.

Maybe 3 other voters will disagree with me and Jerry. But I do think if its vetoed that its pretty close and wouldn't take much tweaking to get votes flipped.
SU guys have value as much as CL do you won't get too far if you don't have some of both but RP are also very fickle but they do have value I just felt there was one piece too many going from SF to SEA and not enough going from SEA to SF which can easily be tweaked by removing a RP or adding another piece from SEA to SF,
But again its only 0-2 it could still end up 3-2 or 0-3 or 1-3 or 2-3.

I appreciate that, I can adjust my value of average relievers in the future, I was treating them as slightly more than incidentals.
Thanks

Need to wait for this trade to be voted on before posting a new trade.
Then new trade needs a new thread.
