Phillies Send
2B/3B Mike Moustakas $15,000,000 (2020)
White Sox Send
1B Miguel Cabrera $11,000,000 (2019)((Re-Sign)) 3B Christian Villanueva $300,000 (2023) LHP Framber Valdez (2024) - Not called up, no salary RHP Wilmer Font (2023) - Not called up, no salary RHP Jorge Alcala (Prospect - MIN)
Phillies Agree
This seems pretty straight forward. Villanueva is in Japan and just included to give White Sox a little more call up flexibility this year. The other prospect(ish) guys aren't really all that special, but I like them and I think there is a decent chance one or more of them could be useful pieces for my team when I'm ready to compete.

It’s never fun paying for a guy you treated as a cap dump in the offseason. But at the time I needed salary for pitching, and Moose didn’t have a team. Now he’s somehow a top-3 third baseman and even more bizarrely a top-3 second baseman.
This last week was brutal for me. Facing off against division rival (and top 2 roto team) Royals with half my lineup injured. Between Posey, Altuve, Correa, and Gallo being hurt plus Franco and Martinez missing a little time I spotted the Royals 80 extra ABs in a one week matchup. And paid the price.
I considered bringing Miggy back up. But he’s become Fat Ichiro this season and eight singles a week just isn’t going to cut it. So instead he goes away, along with some middling pitching talent that is more useful to a rebuilder than to me.
If I wasn’t all in on this season, I’d stand pat and wait for my guys to heal. But I’m in the toughest division in Majors, with three of the top 8 roto teams battling it out for two playoff spots. So here we go.
Thanks for yet another easy trade, Phillies. Good luck with the pitchers.

I don’t like this trade. PHI is getting nothing back really for a guy that is a top 2B/3B and signed for a couple more seasons. They gain some cap flexibility, but that just allows them to go overpay in FA for another Moose next year.
The hardest part in the evaluation is getting a bead on Moose! He has never been highly thought of despite solid numbers even in KC. He could be a legit beast the next season and a half or will he struggle to find a home again next season?
He’s only 30. And there’s a reason he got paid what he did in FA based on how our league runs.
I’m denying this as I’d like to see something of value go to PHI in return.

@phillies - Before this trade can progress one way or the other you need to update your rosters on fantrax and this board to match.

I just dropped him today, but re-added. I thought I had re-added already, but I guess I didn't hit submit. Sorry for the mess guys.

I don't think Moose is worth close to $15 mil per year personally. And to be fair neither of these GMs were even in the league when that contract was signed. LHP Framber Valdez (2024) - #22 HOU by FG; is a lefty who can bring it in velo. RHP Wilmer Font (2023) - Had a good 2018 with TB but has struggled so far in 2019 with NYM. Has some interesting upside potentially RHP Jorge Alcala (Prospect - MIN) - #26 MIN by FG Approval #3 (3-1) **RE-SIGN NOT UPDATED**
