I like it. the 25% over age 35 rule would be good too.
A problem I see is in weird circumstances, or maybe a rookie FA that came out of nowhere on an expiring contract. Or a guy who was out two years with tommy john. Say hypothetically Max Muncy was signed to a 1 year deal early in the 2018 season giving him a 2018 contract. He's had a nearly perfect fantrax score, does paying the tippy top of the market make sense? Just a strange scenario there, but things like that could pop up.

If you focus on real situations and calculate the contract figures, I think you’ll find it works pretty well. Might not be perfect but find a real guy and see how the $$ comes out. Probably won’t be as bad as you’re thinking

There needs to be consideration of the player's age, which should be a mitigating factor. There should be some reduction for a 35 year old coming off a very good year vs a 25 year old. Accordingly, I think that there should be an age discount. Re-Read Rule that is included. The rule states: Also on this, any player who is or turns 35 on or before opening day will be given a 25% discount. This way the system will take the age issue into consideration.
